Retirement Party for Dr. Shaw
Hundreds of friends, colleagues, and former students from across the
country gathered last month to honor the career of Dr. Stanley M. Shaw.
Dr. Shaw joined the faculty at Purdue University in 1962 and has made
major contributions to nuclear pharmacy education, research, and service
to the profession. The retirement dinner included a version of
"This is Your Life" with many humorous and heartwarming stories.
The event was a testimony to positive influence that Dr. Shaw has had on
the profession and his many students.

Carman Bliss speaking at the Friday night event
before his death |
The celebration events were marred by the
unfortunate death of former dean, Carman Bliss, who was killed
in an automobile accident on his way to an anniversary event.
It was under Dean Bliss' leadership that UNM started the first
nuclear pharmacy training and service program in North America.
For more information about Dean Bliss and the UNM
Celebrations... Carman Bliss’
children, Kevin and Allison, established the Carman A. Bliss
Memorial Endowment in honor of their father. The Fund is to
support student and faculty development.
