The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.


Participates in the manufacturing, quality control and dispensing procedures for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) for) radiopharmaceuticals undergoing clinical and preclinical research protocols.  Serves as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) within the Center for Advanced Biomedical Imaging (CABI).

Essential Functions

Develops, periodically reviews and conducts audits of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to comply with Current Good Manufacturing Practice for radiopharmaceuticals. In collaboration with the CRF staff, and others, prepares Chemical Manufacturing and Control (CMC) documents as part of NDAs, ANDAs, DMFs or INDs submissions. Responsible for release of diagnostic imaging doses for patients undergoing clinical trials at MD Anderson. Monitors and ensures compliance with FDA, United States Pharmacopeia, Texas Department of State Health Services Radiation Control Program and Texas State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations. Provides related training to staff members as required.

Required: Five years of experience as a Nuclear Pharmacist.

General Overview: The Center for Quantitative Cancer Imaging is recruiting for a Nuclear Pharmacist to join a multidisciplinary team which includes nuclear pharmacists, radiochemists, a cyclotron engineer, a medical physicist, and nuclear medicine physicians. The position will include operational support in compliance with PET cGMP production of FDG, Sodium Fluoride and several investigational PET radiopharmaceuticals. Working Conditions:

    Job Description:  *Currently seeking a Pharmacist at our Clinical Research Unit in Madison, WI!

    The Pharmacist will:

    • Liaise with Sponsors regarding the pharmacy/dispensing capabilities.
    • Interact with regulatory bodies as are relevant to the pharmacy department.
    • Assume responsibility as technical advisor to the clinical teams and other departments within Clinical Pharmacology.
    • Ensure the pharmacy facilities and processes are compliant with most recent regulations/guidelines.
    • Maintain and further develop facilities and processes relevant to the pharmacy.
    • May perform pharmacy feasibility review of new proposals.
    • Oversee and direct the development/implementation of quality systems to ensure good dispensing practices are maintained.
    • Ensure compliance with appropriate regulations
    • May perform routine dispensing as needed.
    • May assist operations and client managers with Sponsor visits and interactions as appropriate.
    • Ensure safe working practices/environment is employed and maintained.
    • Recommend changes as necessary and justify them in accordance with company policy.
    • Ensure that SOPs germane to the pharmacy area are accurate and up to date.
