Hot Shots Nuclear Medicine is currently updating our file of applications for staff nuclear pharmacist positions for our locations in Michigan, Illinois and Iowa.  Nuclear pharmacy practice is unique, and we seek those with the special skills necessary to succeed in our specialized business segment.

Eligibility requirements are a B.S. of Pharmacy, or Pharm. D. degree, as well as eligibility for any State or Federal registration necessary to become an “Authorized Nuclear Pharmacist".   We can suggest third party training programs for pharmacists that lack radioactive material handling credentials, but whom otherwise meet our standards for hire.

Nuclear Pharmacy practice includes a variety of satisfying daily responsibilities that involve customer relations, drug usage efficiencies, and employee interactions. The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Research Imaging Center

The Department of Radiology in conjunction with The Biomedical Research Imaging Center (BRIC) at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is seeking a Radiopharmacist to join our faculty on or before July, 2014. Faculty appointment will be a fixed term appointment at the rank of Research Instructor. Requirements include a M.S. or Ph.D. in Pharmacy with certification in Nuclear Pharmacy and licensure in the state of N.C. Experience with cyclotron production of radionuclides, dispensing of radiopharmaceuticals, and cGMP compliance is required.

Responsibilities (UNC Hospitals and/or BRIC) include but are not limited to the following activities:

A. Establishing and maintaining up-to-date operating procedures and records for procurement, receipt, compounding, dispensing, quality control, and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals used in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in nuclear medicine including PET.
B. Establishing and maintaining up-to-date operating procedures and records for instrumentation and equipment used in the preparation and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals.
C. Oversees cyclotron operation and scheduling of radioisotope production to meet clinical and research needs as well as developing a distribution plan for delivering radiotracers to hospitals outside the UNC-Chapel Hill network
D. Extemporaneously compounding radiopharmaceuticals and non-radioactive drugs not available from commercial sources.
E. Maintains compliance with regulatory commitments, including cGMP, radiation safety, and pharmacy laws.
F. Collaborates with researchers and radiochemists to synthesize and provide cGMP grade novel PET tracers for clinical and research studies.
G. Providing in-service education in sterile and radiation safety techniques for staff nuclear medicine technologists and student technologists involved with radiopharmacy functions.
H. Participation in the educational curriculum for radiology residents, fellows and technologists.
I. Providing information and consultation on all matters related to radiopharmaceuticals, non-radioactive drugs and devices, and NRC and FDA regulations.
J. Membership on the Radiation Safety Subcommittee for Human Use of Radioisotopes, and membership on the Radioactive Drug Research Committee (RDRC).
