  • CE Session: Renal Disorders: Imaging and Nephrotoxicity
    This session will describe a variety of topics related to renal disorders, nephrotoxicity, and renal imaging. Drug-induced nephrotoxicity and contrast media nephropathy, including dosage considerations, patient monitoring and outcomes will be discussed, as will dosing and imaging considerations for the renal impaired and dialysis patient. The value of various nuclear medicine imaging techniques and radiopharmaceuticals useful for assessing renal function and guiding patient management will be featured.

    Sun. 3/19 10:00-12:00 CE Session: Nuclear Policy and Regulatory Update  This session will focus on recent updates in regulatory affairs that directly impact radiopharmacy practice. The scope and impact of USP <797> as they relate to radiopharmacy will be discussed, as well as a review of 10 CFR part 212 which relates to PET radiopharmaceuticals.
    Sun. 3/19 12:15-1:15 pm Moscone West  Room 2010  CE Session: OSHA Needlestick Safety Regulations  More pharmacists are becoming directly involved with patient case such as administering flu shots and providing other injectables. This session will help pharmacists understand and comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's needlestick safety and prevention requirements. Related legal requirements and safety procedures will also be reviewed.
    Sun. 3/19 2:00-5:00 pm  Moscone West  Room 2010  CE Session:  Diagnostic Imaging and Radiotherapy  This session will highlight advanced imaging modalities and gamma knife therapy. Advances in new PET/CT hybrid technology for management of cancer patients will be presented. The role of cardiac CT and a comparison with nuclear cardiology for diagnosing coronary artery disease will be discussed. The value of radiation therapy with the gamma knife for treating tumors, epilepsy, trigeminal neuralgia, and AV malformations will be described.

    Mon. 3/20 7:00-10:00 am Moscone West  Room 2010  CE Session: Molecular Imaging of Cancer      This session will highlight the principles associated with cancer biology and the biology of metastases and how this helps shapes our understanding of the molecular imaging of cancer. Additionally, discussion will focus on the role molecular imaging can play in developing new radiotracers for oncologic imaging, the roles that MicroPET and MicroSPECT can play in validating the basis of in vivo imaging relative to other cross-modality cooroborative studies. The value of molecular imaging in predicting cancer treatment outcomes and aiding innovative cancer management will be described.
    Mon. 3/20 2:00-5:00 pm Moscone West  Room 2010  CE Session: Current Issues in Nuclear Pharmacy  This program will give practitioners valuable information on current topics in nuclear pharmacy. There will be an introduction to the concept of microdosing and its usefulness in pharmacokinetic studies. Secondly, there will be a discussion of recent FDA regulations regarding PET radiotracers from a FDA staff member. A practitioner who has recently gained approval for FDG production in his facility will also share his experiences.
