subsidiary, Eastern Isotopes, announced a name change to IBA
Molecular. IBA Molecular has a distribution network of PET
isotopes in the U.S., Europe, and Asia and IBA cyclotron sales.

- Media Fill Simulation
Exercise
- The APhA Section on Nuclear
Pharmacy Practice is presently developing a standardized media
fill simulation exercise for <797> compliance that is designed for nuclear pharmacy.
The current drafts of the project documents are now posted to
the "Resources" section of Nuclear e-Community on
www.pharmacist.com
(member login).
The 3 documents are comprised of 1) procedure, 2) job aid and 3)
data collection record. Please send your comments on these draft
documents to Rich Nickel.

- Neoprobe submits Lymphoseek to
FDA
- Neoprobe has submitted clinical
and preclinical results on Lymphoseek (TM), a
radiopharmaceutical intended to be used as a lymphatic tissue
targeting agent in biopsy procedures for the detection of lymph
nodes in breast and melanoma cancers. Neoprobe hopes to
begin Phase II testing following FDA approval.

- Potential NRC
Regs on Accelerator/Cyclotron Products
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 granted the NRC regulatory
authority over naturally occurring and accelerator produced
radioactive material (NARM). The NRC released the proposed draft
NARM rule package submitted to the Commissioners for review in
an effort to give the public extended notification. The content
of the proposed rule may be changed by the Commission before

- Election Results
- Congratulations to Jeff
Norenberg for being elected Vice-President elect of
the Radiopharmaceuticals Sciences Council of the Society of
Nuclear Medicine. Jeff is an Associate Professor at the Univ.
of New Mexico College of Pharmacy and serves as the
Executive Director of the National Association of Nuclear
Pharmacies. It will be good to have pharmacy
represented on this council.

Chernobyl Nuclear
Power Plant
This
week marks the 20th anniversary of the April 26,
1986 disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
The explosion released 400 times more
radiation than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
At least 31 people died as result of trying to
contain the fire and thousands have been diagnosed
with cancer. This type of nuclear power
plant does not exist in the U.S. For more

A 43 year old woman was being followed
for Cushing's Syndrome when a lung mass was seen on CT. An
OctreoScan study was ordered for evaluation of the mass.
